Hi everyone. I've been trying to cure some rattles in my front passenger side door.

I've found a nut which I'm sure is playing a part in some of my rattles. It can be seen in the pictures. It's sticking out and loose so to speak to the red metal, as in it can be moved in and out, but it's attached to something inside the door and is fully tightened up, so can't be screwed in any further (hope that makes sense!).

Does anyone know what this nut is for and what it is attached to on the other side of the red metal?? I'm thinking i need a thick washer to stop it from moving about, but worried about taking it out to fit a washer in case something drops down inside the down once the nut is removed, if you get my drift?

Any ideas/help would be much appreciated.

Pretty sure that is one of the bolts that holds the window regulator guide rails in place, if you pop out the black insert that the door release cable goes through you should see the rail and find that it may be loose. From memory there is a nut on the other side, you may need to remove the whole panel to get to it.

    Thanks. Yep you're right.

I think someone before me has done some work on the door and not put that screw back in properly, it was kinda cross threaded and jammed. I unscrewed it, took a few attempts to screw it back in correctly, but got there in the end. Now fully screwed in and tight, no rattling/vibrating.
