Any ideas?

My 2014 a6 ultra when ticking over will occasionally make an electric flap noise from what sounds to be behind the dash/engine bay then the engine will stutter slightly and recover. a few minutes later it will do the same? Anybody else experience this, ive got a friend at work and he reckons his A3 tdi does the same. Does this sound normal? Cheers in advance.

If it is what I think it is - I have the same in the A7 and both previous C7 A6's

I notice now and again I hear a flap noise. I always thought it was the air con/climate control.
Had it in all 3 c7’s. I think you notice it more in the cold as the climate control doesn’t blow much air till the car warms up. Normally after a few minutes driving the car has a bit of warmth then it starts pumping warm air into the cabin that’s when I hear the flaps.
Never noticed the engine stuttering unless it’s caused by the air con pump turning on as that puts a bit of stress on the engine.

That’s what I thought but it happens when the air con and heater is turned off, that’s what I don’t understand? Well at least if it’s happening on others there is no cause for alarm thanks for the replies guys.

Do you have access to vcds?
See if the climate control is throwing any errors. My old golf have a flap sticking/broken and that was making funny noises now and again. I could only see the error in vcds. It was a dash out job so left it then some bugger wrote it off.
