Ps what a waste of comment thank you for nothing.
Lets clear up a misunderstanding, Flapperjack's original message to me was misunderstood by me and I agree with hime that the Audi 80 is a great car except for the headlights, i'm sorry to him for my comment. Back to the problem at hand. my first attempt to try to solve problem was to fit the double headlights from the 2.6 which gave a little better, then tried 100w bulbs suprisigly little improvement, then 130 then 160. The suggestion to fit relays i will try after bits delivered. back to road legal, its not the bulb rating but the intensity when measured for mot. also me behind you with 160 watt bulbs ha ha try having a modern SUV up your A....e with led lights!!!

I'm sorry too I'm very blunt and read these on my tea break . 25 year's fixing car's and you dont beat about the bush. You won't find much information on how high wattage you can go but if i remember correctly section 94 highway code basically says you can't use anything that dazzles or makes other road user's uncomfortable.

I should also offer my apologies. Been a bad week, and was writing my replies after numerous arguments during the day with VW and on little sleep as my baby seems to be allergic to sleeping!

One thing worth mentioning. From May 19th 2018 any car with HID conversion from halogen is an mot fail. Just been reading the mot testing manual (draft version) from 19/5/18. So could change before it is set in stone but unlikely.

Does that include sidelights like 501 , from stupid 5W halogen to 1W LED ?

A HID bulb would be difficult to spot behind a halogen projector lense .

Don't know about that yet and yes i agree hard to spot. Just a draft at the moment anything can change. This is dvsa and to be fair nothing but confusing thing's come from them. Like they didn't know what class 5 was in an email last week.

Hi, thanks for help, next problem, just looked at led lights and there seems to be two types Ones that are just a bulb that plugs straight into the H4 holder and another that has what I think may be a fan behind it, please help. Another option but looks really expensive and that is angel eyes. All replys welcomed. Ps i use an uprated halogen sideligh bulb.
