Our 2003 3.0 petrol had its camBelt done 4 1/2 years ago, since then it’s only done about 12k miles, should we get it changed anytime soon or not?

some say go by mileage, others by length of time it’s been on?

weve just spent £1,000+ on a new clutch and DMF so hoping to not have more big bills this year

    cheers guys

If the tensioner and idlers were also done 12k and 4 1/2 years ago I'd personally be willing to take the risk on running it another 12 months, on a car of that age / residual value. Just my opinion though !!

6-cylinder engines, then 80k miles or 5 years. It's a calculated risk to leave it longer than that, but go with others have said given mileage and potential residual value.
