In the last few days my start/stop on my 2013 1.4 TSI GT has been intermittant. Sometimes it works and most times it doesn't. Only message I get when I select status in the menu is "High Power consumption" or something smilar to that. Anyone else had this and can advise please ?

I had same before battery gave up. Your battery getting weak. Regular short journeys killing your battery.
After battery replacement stop start works nearly enough straight away.

Thats a good call. I have not been using my car much for a few weeks now and then only for short journeys. Makes sense if the battery is not being fully charged that something like stop/start which is a heavy power user would cut out. I'll put it on charge once a week if I stay at the same usage rates. My wifes Yaris has the same issue with short journys and I top her charge up once a week.

    Thanks

Quite few comments on net about battery not lasting over 3 years on mk7. Charge it, see how it goes. I kept my to the point where i was getting warning "Battery Low" and then replaced it. First signs stop start works occasionally, second sign stop start not working at all and last is low battery warning on start up.
Batteries not cheap, got mine replaced at quick fit for £170 incl fitting. You will need get car codded after replacement to let it know that new battery fitted.

    Ouch.

Charge shows as drawing max current so hopefully mine is a low battery. Especially as I say, it has only been used 1-2 times a week for short journeys.

When you say coded after new battery what does that mean ?

Basically connect to diagnostic tool and change settings in battery section, input new serial number etc. So system addapts altenator not to overcharge it.

You can just swap it but codding it correctly will give max life to new battery

Charge was pretty quick to get it up to 13v...2 hours on max charge which is good on a healthy battery. Indicator on my Varta battery is solid black which indicates good. So fingers crossed......

Edit: Stop/Start is now listed as "available" is car status. So hopefully it was my lack of use that had the battery running at sub optimal level and hence the intermittant nature of the problem. From what I've read the Power Consumption High is a good pointer to that...or of course a duff battery
