I have had my mechatronic unit tested (x2) to try and resolve my dsg issues! Have discovered that one of the wires has come away from the connector, trying to work out who if anybody could sort this or do I need a complete harness, see pics. What does the orange twisty wire (the one that's come out) do? Gearbox appears to be stuck in park so cannot move it to get it to vw!

It needs the terminal replacing with a VAG repair wire. My home PC is at work at the moment so I can't give you the part number until Monday so send me a PM with your registration number on Monday to remind me.

Sorry, been busy, started this so long ago the session expired! The orange/brown wire is the powertrain CAN BUS low and goes to pin 15 of the plug which is known as T20e, that should not be as twisted like that, it should be formed with the orange/black (CAN high) as a twisted pair for interference suppression purposes. The plug itself is VW number 1J0 927 320 and costs £20.72 and the repair wire is VW part number 000 979 033 E which is £15.18 PER single double ended wire so if TPS make you buy the bag of five that’s £75.90 for wires!

Hello again, I was wondering if you could throw any light on my golf issues? We replaced the clutch pack because it was making grinding noises and then it was fine for 1000 miles then when it got warm it wouldn't go above D3 and then eml came on and it would lose drive (as if in neutral) I could switch it off and back on and it would be ok but couldn't go above 25mph as it would lose drive. Took gearbox out again and checked everything but couldn't see any issues so sent mechatronic unit to be tested, it was fine but when we put it back in as soon as I started the car the dash would go blank (no gear showing) but with engine off I could go through the gears and it would display but the gearbox was "stuck" in park so because the car was worse than before they tested the mechatronic unit again but all was fine they said. Put it back in again and still the same and then discovered the loose wire. The car will not move, we've rocked it and it's stuck solid, could this all be down to the wiring on the connector being rubbish? I don't want to get another gearbox if it could all be due to wiring issues, many thanks for your help so far and I'm hoping you may be able to help again!

I suspect you need to replace the Mechatronic unit, part number 02E 325 025 AT Z2Y which are £2292.86 and are special order from Germany. When you fitted the new clutch pack, did you spend the time to get the circlip thickness correct and do basic settings when finished?

Hello again, we've took the plunge and are putting another gearbox with mechatronic unit into my golf, do you know the wiring for the mechatronic plug and what each of the wires regulate (hope that makes sense). Once finished do I need to take car to vw for a reset or anything? Many thanks for all your help so far and hopefully I should have a working vw golf soon
