While my car is parked up for a few days I thought I'd recondition the original 4-5 year old battery using a CTEK charger.

The MXS 5.0 will cover upto 110Ah and will recondition both wet and AGM batteries.
The MXS 7.0 handles 150Ah but only appears to recondition non-AGM batteries but in a faster time presumably because of its higher 7.0A spec. I don't know if this is more aggressive on the battery.

I've got the choice of either and despite a quick search which suggests that replacements are AGM (do I assume the original to be?), I'm unsure which to use and whether it's critical to select AGM which has a slightly higher voltage. Time (speed/current?) is not an issue as the car won't be moving till next week.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't know the physics behind the 5 and 7 and agm/non agm etc however I can say I have had a MXS 5.0 for a number of years now as my 2x cams do drain the battery a fair bit and on a daily basis. Had no issues at all with it and has been really realiable.
Has the usual indicators via leds and overnight the battery is fully charged in the carport.

In conclusion, you won't have any issues with the 5.0 (I use it on the A7) so I guess it's more the differences between the two models that is the deciding factor

Thanks Akash. I got both earlier in the year (Amazon deal) so that I could keep the MXS 5.0 in a separate location where my motorbike and Oset were stored, and the choice made it more confusing. It was decided for me as they start the last known charging cycle within a couple of seconds of being connected to power without you pressing anything! (My old Auto XS one was less sophisticated). I'm now slightly concerned that it'll do another recondition if there's a power cut so will disconnect when the process is complete - which it looks like it may be this morning. Reconditioning is only advised once a year.

If its sat over Christmas-New Year I'll reconnect it and zap it on the AGM setting for a conventional top-up assuming it is indeed AGM like the replacements.

Another thumbs up for the MXS 5.0, have been using one on my A6 for a few years and another CTEK on another car for a long time with no issues.
