It was a rushed look around as I had to drive 150 miles to view it and test drive it and had limited time there so I didn't really get a chance to properly play with everything and have a good look around.
I've never owned an Audi and haven't had any time to look at things properly on the car so I'm a bit confused with some of the gadgets, terminology, versions etc.
I think it has the MMI 3g as it's got the button inside the scroll wheel. Its also got a dvd/sd player and cd changer in the glove box. I dont know what map version the nav is, how an update is installed etc. The spec from the dealer says it had Nav Pro, but dont know what that means and if its just sales man talk too.
Its got the music interface thingy, can a new iphone be plugged into this and will it charge the phone? (I guess the old wide connectors were standard at the time of the car's birth)
Can music be be played from a phone via bluetooth?
My daughter wont be happy to find out there's no cup holder in the back. I might have to source a new arm rest with the cup holder
The arm rest with the phone cradle in - Any point to this now? Is it something that can be removed to make a better storage box seeing the glove box is out of bounds.
When I test drove the car, the conditions were wet, I wheel spun from a junction with very little throttle on. Is this a common thing. The car had nearly Dunlop tyres (not a fan of Dunlops).
I'm sure I will have many more observations and question when I get the car, but as I cant get another play in the car until it's delivered, my Googling fingers are working overtime.
Many thanks
Chris
Hi,
I can answer some of those questions for you.
If it has the "top hat" in the middle of the MMI knob, it has "HDD Satellite Navigation with MMI 3G". The brochure described this as 3rd generation of MMI including 2 FM tuners, high resolution (800x400) 7” colour TFT display, DVD movie-playing function, colour Driver’s Information System, 2 SD card readers and 40GB hard drive – 10GB of which can be used to store up to 4,000 songs. HDD Navigation functionality includes advanced speech recognition, 3D and topographical mapping display and advanced 3D building display. It was sometimes described as "Nav pro" but usually by people more familiar with BMW technology, I think
If it has Audi Music Interface, there will be a small plug set into the top of the glovebox. If you're lucky, it will come with the original cables, which were an Apple 30-pin cable (for iPhone 4s and prior) and a mini USB cable. If you have a newer iphone, you'll need to buy the AMI cable with the Lightning connector, or a 30-pin to Lightning adaptor if you have the originals. This will allow you to select and play music from your phone as well as charging it.
I don't think bluetooth music streaming is included in the C6 model lineup - Audi brought this in with the C7 which arrived in 2011 (the newer shape).
There's no real point to the phone cradle in the armrest these days. Does the car actually have a cradle attached, or is it just the baseplate to which a phone cradle clips? If there is a phone cradle in there, you can unclip it from the baseplate to claw back some space.
I have a funny feeling you won't need a complete new rear armrest for your daughter. I seem to remember reading a post where someone got the cup holder insert from a dealer and fitted it into an existing armrest without one originally. It's worth a forun search on here, especially if it saves you money
Enjoy the car!!
Cheers!
MF.
