A bit of a general shout for suggestions here.

My car has recently been stood up for 4 weeks whilst it had the ignition module on the steering column replaced. Whilst that went well the car is totally different since.

Aside from the steering wheel not being center any more - which im guessing is an easy fix, its exhibiting strange symptoms.

As soon as I got it back I noticed that inside the car its considerably noisier than ever before - its very much like an induction type of noise - almost like the door is permanantely open.
In addition to that the engine sounds a bit rough, and the fuel consumption seems to have gone through the floor, ive lost about 5mpg on an average drive.
It also seems to be down on pull, if i stamp on the pedal it seems ok, but general driving it seems to be spending a lot more time in 4th and 5th than im sure it ever has before.
The final thing which may or may not be related is the temperature seems to be slow to go up to 90 and if i go down a long decent it actually drops down to 50/60 - im sure its not done this before either.

I cant see the link between the steering column being removed and this, so im thinking its more likely to be to do with being sat up for a while.

Any suggestions / help would be great!

    Thanks

odd the way i would tackle this is - sounds (pun) like you have a grommet out on the bulk head to allow noise in, did the workshop have the whole column out for the change?
center the rack then the steering wheel. could be a thermostat not closing properly and the car not getting up to temp and running a colder map?

Yes the whole column was out as it got sent away for repair - that was my initial thought that something wasnt put back in which has allowed the noise through.
I also wondered if the temp would affect the MPG that obviously.

Sounds like some good areas to start looking at
