    Hi all,

I own a 2011 Golf MK6 2.0 TDI (140) which has provided me with 4 years of trouble free motoring As the recent cold snap has hit I have experienced my first ever issue with the car and that is difficulty starting when cold.

The car shows no warning lights, no loss of power and drives perfectly when it starts but it cranks several times now when it sites overnight in the cold temps. The worst was over the weekend when it was -1 and covered in snow the car cranked 11(!) times before it started. I replaced all 4 glow plugs last week but hasn't changed anything at all. There is no excess smoke when it starts, no misfiring or rough idling and multiple cranks to start only happens on the first start of the day when the temperatures are low.

    Anyone got any ideas?

The CR TDI seems to eat glow plugs, yesterday we had a just over 1 year old Golf 7 in for its second service with us (20k miles) and all four glow plugs reported as faulty.

you could try replacing the fuel filter, incase it has water in it & its freezing the diesel .................................................. ............. or drain it with screw at bottom of filter, if fitted. I wouldnt muck about & just change it.
