2010 AUDI A6 Le Mans MMI

Hi All,

Long time since last posting on this forum, and first time in this section!!

We currently have a 2005 A4 Avant 2.0 TFSI Quattro. The car has been fantastic for the last 10 years but as the kids grow we now need something bigger.

I am soon to be the very proud owner of a 2010 A6 Avant Le Mans 3.0tdi. Took it for a test drive and was beaming from ear to ear from the outset, fantastic car.

It has more bells and whistles than our existing car, and probably far more than I need, however, it would be a real bonus to me if I could play DVD's on the MMI system.

Apologies if this has been asked before but I am no tech expert, and there were numerous answers regarding numerous different MMI systems.

How do I find out if I can play DVD's or what I need to do so?

Sorry, think I may have solved this. The car I'm buying does have the "Top Hat" on the central joystick - according to what I have read this means I will have the MMI 3G which has DVD functionality.

Am I correct? Not getting the car until Saturday and I can't wait to find out......!!!

Yes, you are correct. DVD videos can be played on MMI 3G High, but only when vehicle is stationary, to play it during driving you need to enable VIM via VCDS.

Enabling VIM (Video in Motion)
[Select]
[Control Module 5f]
[Advanced ID - 1A]
Make a note of the serial number and decode using MMI VIMGen
[Security Access - 16]
Enter the code generated above
[Do it!]
[Adaptation - 10]
Choose Channel 48
change value from 0 to 255
[Save]
[Done]
Restart MMI

Remember that it is illegal to watch TV/DVD/Movies whilst driving in this the UK. The police will still charge you even if you say that it is the passenger that's watching the movie.

3.0tdi is a great engine, also great on fuel, bet it will do 50 percent more to the gallon than the 2.0 petrol.
