Audi A3 (8P) 2.0 TDi - Clutch hydraulic problem!

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there's anyone that might be able to shed some light on a hydraulic clutch problem?

I had a problem with my hydraulic clutch where the clutch was going down when pressed but would not come back up again, I could only lift the clutch with the use of my foot underneath it!

I then decided to book the car is with a local independent mechanic who consulted with one of their master techs and said that it was the clutch slave cylinder, apparently a common problem on the 6spd gearbox? I had the slave cylinder replaced and noticed that the clutch behaved differently when the engine warmed up, when hot there is approx. 30-40% travel on the clutch before I can start to feel any clutch resistance! The garage that I had the work done from cannot seem to identify the issue and reassured me that the clutch was pressure bled, and that it could be the flywheel or the master cylinder. My car has only covered 36,000 miles and the biting point is spot on and the gears go in fine so I would be surprised if it was the clutch.

I then had a friend of mine (works for Audi) fit a new master cylinder and the problem is still there! The travel on the clutch is still there and again only when the engine is warm.

I can't seem to work this one out any advise based on experience would be very much appreciated!
