2.7tdi quattro thermostat

Not been on for a while

Bought a 57 plate 2.7tdi Quattro s line estate with a great history and loaded with toys inc electric tailgate

Have done the glow plugs and 1x engine mount since ownership and have to say its one of the best audis i have owned.

Anyway, have noticed it seems to take ages to get to 90 now its very cold. Lazy thermostat or do these cars take a while to get to temp ?

It’s a big engine and yes it takes a while ‘till gets to 90. Sometimes when you turn the heat on you will notice it takes much more time to get to it. So you need to get used.

In winter It takes about 10 miles of gentle driving ie. not revving over 2000 to reach 90 on mine, if I do a short trip around town not exceeding 30mph with the heater on at this time of year doesn’t reach 90. If I leave it idling with heater on temp can drop to 70. So I think it’s normal. My thermostat is functional.
