So with all the hoo-hah re thefts due to exploitation of keyless locking/unlocking, how long until car manufacturers start implementing fingerprint sensors? The fingerprint sensor on my iPhone is flawless so the technology exists. Or will this motivate crims to start chopping off people's fingers?

At least it would stop cars being driven off people's driveways in the dead of night.

Given these things can detect a cut off finger, you and your finger will then be kidnapped out of bed and thrown in the back of your, say shiny new SQ7, whilst a crim drives it to a container and dumps you in middle of nowhere in your pyjamas. Nice. I’ll stick with losing the keys. Careful what you wish for. :-)

I'm glad you fingerprint sensor is flawless - my iphone one is less so. Definitely wouldn't want it on a car - doesn't seem to like cold weather, doesn't like it if I have been climbing and my finger tips are trashed, won't accept cold fingers. Too many issues for me.

Ah good point, I don't have mangled fingers, I can see that yes, it could be a massive problem for some people.
