    Hi there

Not sure if anyone could shed some light on this for me, i have tried to fit some front fog lights to my 2010 Golf, all installed correctly but before i could test them i noticed that the battery had gone flat.
Now as soon as you put the ignition on the headlights are on permanently, the headlight switch doesn't respond at all, even with the switch in the off position or disconnected the lights stay on. (not DRL either)
Also the rear fog lights do not work off the switch now.
I have disconnected all the wiring that i had put in and also fitted the original headlight switch but its still the same.
Have tried disconnecting the battery and leaving for a bit but still the same.
Not sure if there could be a relay stuck or if you guys think it could be a programming issue?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

You need a suitable diagnostics system such as full and legal VCDS otherwise you will not have a clue what is going on and success will be a matter of luck. We had to chnage the number plate units (well actually fit some as they were missing??) in a Golf 5 yesterday and the new ones would not work until the fault code in the central electrics system was cleared. The Golf 6 uses a more advanced version of the same system.

    Hi Crasher

Thanks for your prompt response, i had thought it could be a programming issue, do you know if this would be a dealer visit or would a generic VAG OBD2 tester have these facilities to reset it?
    Thanks again.

I doubt, it but I only have VCDS and the dealer system ODIS for when VCDS (regularly) lets me down. It may respond to just a code clear but the system isn't OBDII so may not communicate.

Hi, did you get to the bottom of this issue? My Golf has just failed it’s MOT due to the fogs not working and at the same time it has been noticed that the headlight dipped beams stay on constantly.
I have no warning messages and all bulbs look fine. I did switch the cornering fog lights off around 6 months ago with vcds, and I am starting to wonder if I have changed a setting by mistake that could he leaving them on

    Ben
