Hi, I have LED headlights (ordinary kind, not matrix).

I am trying to work out the logic behind when the cornering lights come on.

In my last car (with xenon lights) it was fairly obvious - low speed, indicator on, or enough steering lock to activate it.

But on the LED version I think they come on as I approach a roundabout even if I am not indicating or turning the wheel.

Does the GPS control them as well?

Yes I think the GPS controls them as I’ve noticed at T junctions on approach both sides light up

Maybe that's how the High Beam Assist knows it's in a built up area too. That doesn't seem to be foolproof, though.

On main beam you can see the shape of the light change as it bends around other cars.

There’s a camera in the rear view mirror enclosure that works with high beam assist.
I don’t think the headlights are that smart to use gps etc. The cornering lights come on depending on steering lock and both lights come on when you slow down to a certain speed. It’s not that sophisticated.

Look in the code sheet for your car (spare wheel well or front of service book) The code you are looking for, for Matrix Headlights is 8G4
