    Hello everyone :-)

I currently have a 2012 Leon FR 1.4 tsi and its on a long life service plan. It is due a major service shortly and I am not sure to take it to a Seat dealer or somewhere else cheaper. Am i right in thinking it needs a major service every 2 years/20000 miles when its on long life plan? I have had the car 18 months and it was on long life when i bought it. I average about 12000 miles a year. I was tempted to get national to just do a oil change for £42 as the dealer major service is £279 :-( Thanks

Its at 44000 miles so i would need to change the spark plugs maybe and never have done it before. I am capable of changing filters. Would I also need a computer to plug in to the car to reset service. Thanks for your comment

If you want your timing chains to last, double up on your oil change interval.

I am a big advocate of dealers looking after my both my cars, now whilst there are some excellent independent specialist out there including one or two that support the site, my personal preference is dealers... I have used them for a number of years, they always look after me and charge me a reasonable price... now, I believe that dealer servicing helped me out a few years back....

I used to own a Seat Ibiza 1.4 2011 which due to an issue required a new engine when the car was 4 months or so out of warranty and just above the 60000 mile limit, the dealer is a Seat and Skoda dealer and always serviced my cars and done anything needed... Owning Seat's since 2002 he said he would get a contribution for the £4500 bill due to my loyalty and asked for a list of registration numbers for my Seat's...

I was expecting maybe a percentage of the bill if anything, but on collection it cost me £400 which was the initial strip down and finding what was wrong.... I was gob smacked! so Seat/Dealer paid almost all the bill...

Now, my point is if I had used one of the specialists, yes I would have got a good service, but would I have got this paid like I did? maybe 25%, 50% at the most? who knows, but I am sure it would have cost me a lot more than £400

As I say there are some fantastic specialist around who do a great job... just my personal preference is dealers...
