Guys can you give me a hand please?

A6 B4 C5 2.5TDI Quattro SE Auto, the gearbox has started to leak from the seal as pointed to on the picture, its the main output seal to the prop shaft behind that flange thing, AFAIK.

I noticed the oil was dropping on the drive so opened the fill port and it took about 0.80L of oil to top it off again, its immediately dripping out like a SOAB again.

It looks like a ratbag of a job, I have no pit or ramps high enough to get under it and the local indy said he don't want to do it, take it to this place blah blah blah..... £500....

Anyway, I'm going to attempt it myself (buy ramps high enough or fabricate them if neccesary), could anyone be so kind as to advise me the exact part name and possibly a P/N and supplier?

    It's a 2003 model Avant.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Alan,

Do you mean only a specialist can do the job or only they can get the parts?

I've seen YouTube videos of the job being done, it doesn't seem all that hard providing access is made easy, on hydraulic ramps for instance.

    Cheers.

This is not the transmission this is a central differential the oil is 80W90 PN: G052145S2. And you need a new oil sealer PN: 01V409399A

Oil is a 75W90, there are two different seals, 018409399B for the original flange or 01V409399A for the "updated" flange.

Yes it's the golden brown looking thick oil (I put in 75W90 to top up) as opposed to the ATF fluid, would I be right in believing that all the seals are the same? the three on the front and three on the rear transfer box? as eBay listings seem to indicate that the seals are for 'left and right sides' - am assuming the output and input flange seals and the half shaft seals are all the same?

Many thanks for the P/N's guys, I'm going to fabricate 4 x 24" Liftstands over the winter so I can get cracking on it in the better weather next year.

It doesn't do much mileage and its holding about half its oil, hoping that it will be okay til then.

    Thanks again!

    ...
No. The half-shaft diferential seals are diferent from the propshaft diferential seals.

Okay, thanks for that, I've bought a couple anyway as the rear might need doing when I tear it apart next year, false economy not to change them all IMO.

I've just bought a couple of CAT exhaust joint clamps - 125mm x 54mm, I'm trying to ascertain whether these are the correct size, do you know for certain? all indications they are but would prefer to be sure.

Edit: CAT clamps are the correct ones, checked with a vernier, pipe is 50mm OD
