    Hello

I have a 67 plate Q7 just clocked 1000 miles and taken it steady to settle things in so to speak.

What do people see as an average for fuel consumption.

Over the first 1000 miles i have an average of 28MPG combined.

I’m not worried about costs just interested

I bought a 66 plate SQ7 ex Demo with 5k on clock back in August, now at 10k, 250 - 300 miles a week on average, 200 miles motorway circa 80mph adaptive cruise the other 50 miles town driving, at least a few foot to the floor runs to speed limit per week :-). Average MPG 32.2 since I drove off the forecourt. Best I have achieved is a 20 mile run from cold 42mpg on comfort setting. Average around town from cold seems to be 22mpg; I can get 39mpg on a 100 mile motorway run at 75-80 mph.

Really pleased with the SQ7, my X5M beforehand would get 22mpg at best on a 100 mile motorway run at 70 mph max.

Are you using the long term memory mpg stat meter from the car or calculating it based on fill to brim costs? I do intend to work out the latter as don't know how accurate the mpg meter is. I am averaging 33-35 on the long term meter (I reset it when I fill up) but got 46 today on a 70 mile trip as reported by the short term meter.

What I have noticed is that I was filling my R36 up every week, £80 of super at extortionate rates, now I'm filling up with diesel the cost is still £80 but now only fill up once a fortnight, so my fuel costs have halved, which I'm quite happy about! :-)

I'm getting almost 34 mpg on the long term meter on my 3.5 month old SQ7 with nearly 4000 miles on it. In terms of the range per tank, I seem to add between 10-20 miles to the range so far after each fill up....that big 4.0 is starting to loosen up now! With my driving style I'm honestly anticipating late 30's early 40's mpg when I hit between 10-15K miles. I don't think that the economy on the SQ7 is bad AT ALL! Put it this way, we had two 3.0 V6 Jeep Grand Cherokees before this and my wife averaged 22mpg if she was lucky where I averaged more 27ish mpg again if I was lucky, shocking cars they were too! Strangely, (justifying my belief that the only two positions for my wife's accelerator is 'on' or 'off' her 4 pot 2.0L XC90 with just over 3K miles 4.5 months old is only getting 28mpg!
