Does anyone know if an ageing DPF causes sluggish performance? Had mine cleaned at 114k and the car had noticeable faster / smoother rev and turbo pick up but 2K later feels sluggish again.

Do new ones effect engine performance after a few thousand miles of filling up or is my high millage one knackered.

    Cheers

What kind of journeys does the car do? long or short?

I have 162,000 miles on mine 130,000 of those mostly motorway journeys and the DPF is fine.

If you have access to VCDS you could check the soot levels in the advanced measuring blocks.

The pressure sensors can cause trouble I have replaced one on a similar car to yours before, this normally puts on the EML but does not effect performance.

A blocked Cat or DPF could do this but you will have needed one of the 2 to become restricted.

How did the DPF get cleaned? you normally have to split them open to clean them out and re weld the casing.

Approx 92,000 of those 116,000 miles have been 5 hour back and forth journeys on the motorway to the West Country.

I haven’t got VCDS, but I have got a code reader. I’ve replaced various exhaust sensors in the last 18 months due to EML and coil flashing.

Last month had the EML and DPF come on together at 114K

Low air mass error code in the p0102.

I don’t know how it was cleaned exactly. Chemicals probably.

I know it felt great to drive afterwards, very responsive for a couple of thousand miles. Now it just doesn’t feel as lively.

I did have an oil change at the same time ( every 10,000 miles ) (114k) and always run it on ultimate diesel.

If yours is running good at 160,000 then it’s probably me imagining it ha

    Cheers
