Have a read of this, then make your mind up, the comment about zinc in the 2 stroke oil is interesting, this took me 30 seconds to find on google, its always worth having an open mind.
Also bear in mind 99.99 percent of the population just stick neat diesel in their tanks, only the enthusiasts mess around like we do.

2-Stroke Oil In Diesel – A Technical Study

If you dont want to/cant be ***** to read it all heres a quick look at the results
    7. CONCLUSIONS

Based on the results of this study, the following conclusions are drawn:
    • At a 200:1 volumetric blending ratio, 2-stroke oil has a negligible effect on diesel lubricity.
    • All diesel fuel sold in South Africa has to meet the SANS 342:2014 lubricity specification to ensure the proper protection of diesel fuel pumps and injector systems.
    • The low sulphur diesel products sold by Sasol contain lubricity improver additives which are far more effective than 2-stroke oil.
    • At a 200:1 volumetric blending ratio, 2-stroke oil has a negligible effect on diesel cetane number.
    • No measurable effect on all other regulated diesel properties was measured at a 200:1 dose of 2-stroke oil in diesel.
    • 2-stroke oil can contain around 16ppm zinc, or higher depending on the formulation and batch.
    • Trace amounts of zinc in diesel are known to rapidly accelerate injector nozzle deposits.
    • Engine test results show that a 200:1 blend of 2-stroke oil in diesel results in a 2% loss of engine power in a 16 hour test due to injector fouling, a risk that would apply to any common rail diesel engine, but could also worsen fouling in older engines.
    • Vehicles fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in the exhaust system could experience reduced DPF life due to the collection of ash and metal based contaminants in the filter over time with the continued use of 2-stroke oil.

The abovementioned results should hopefully clear up many of the public misconceptions around the use of 2-stroke oil in diesel and highlight why both oil companies & engine manufacturers do not recommend the addition of any after-market additives, ie. 2-stroke oil, to the fuel tank. It is also good advice to use fuels from reputable outlets backed up by the technical support of a competent fuel company to enable the best engine performance and durability.

Yes he is a bit pikey !

This technical study comes up time and time again because it's the only negative ammo an infidel can come up with and is NOT relevant because we use a different spec 2 Stroke .

The study uses JASO FC which the base oil is a semi or fully synthetic .

We use JASO FB which is mineral , it dissolves into the fuel and burns completely , JASO FC does not and could leave deposits .

Even the pikey in the video says it's got to be mineral low ash which is JASO FB if he could read the rear label .

It is extremely rare for 1.9 130 PD injectors to fail plenty of us with high mileage use JASO FB for years , myself for 4 years , Sweden they've been doing it for 30+years as it also helps in cold weather , typically - 30°C sometimes.

A 1.9 130 will missfire because it's injector loom is breaking down at high mileage or the cam is worn through poor servicing , I cannot remember hearing of an injector over four VAG forums over five years .

It's halved my mot smoke opacity test , not just comparing one years reading with the other but over several the last five on the same serial # Boston machine .

2 Stroke use is world wide over a huge number of forums , many different diesel vehicles over galactic combined mileages , if it were bad , we'd know about it !

Its turned up on the third attempt at delivery had to be signed for its a 4 quid bottle of oil ffs!
Anyway Discovery tank on a 1/4 dobbed 3/4 of a litre in, meant to do half a litre but misjudged, did 30 miles and filled tank as per usual, and as usual I cant tell any difference at all, starts the same/runs the same and er thats it, but I will give it the tankful and fill up again and see if theres any noticeable difference.

I must have wasted £100's on 2 stroke and other diesel additives when I ran a my first diesel ( Saab 1.9 TTID). Not bothered on the Audi. Best way to keep a modern diesel clean is to not do short trips and regularly work it hard.

Just come back form 2 days away, 260 odd miles and mpg was the same if not a tadge worse, but thats most likely weather related.
I wonder as its common rail theres none to little improvement to be made?

So as I said I would try this -----I have, and to be honest I have noticed that MPG is up a wee bit- still driving it as tho I stole it, so the mpg has improved ! and yes the car is quieter-(tho wen on veg it is quiet anyway since the valve seats get that wee bit extra lube !) I would like to know why this works ?? as 2stroke cant be changing the cem make up of the fuel , and since its a direct injection, the combustion chamber is recessed into the piston crowns - instead of in the head like the old days - it cant be helping to seal the rings any better, so what and why is 2 stoke doing to have such a positive affect ?????? I would love to get some facts on the how and why !!!
