Has anybody any idea whether I need to change the battery or the regulator?

    Thanks.

Right, when I started the car this morning to charge the battery, (as the battery indicator was showing 50%) I went off to do other things and the battery I thought would charge up, came back half an hour later, the car had stopped running, and the battery indicator was still 50%, so I shut the car off. Two hours later I went back to the car checked the battery level , it was still 50%, so I went for a run, 15 mins later when I drove home, battery still 50%. Got out the multimeter and tested the battery with car turned off and the reading was 12.24, tested the battery with the car running, read 13.85. Would these reading be right, thanks.
