    Hi there,

I've just noticed that I can't alter any of the vent directional settings on the car. Things have stuck open on dash (side) vents only. It wouldn't worry me bar for the fact that windscreen demisting isn't operable and with cold weather, I'm starting to need it.

The fan is working okay and all the buttons are lighting up as usual when pressed. Just no actual activity from the vent directional flaps in response to the button pressing.

I checked the fuses and popped the control unit out to see if a plug had fallen out the back of it but nothing amiss there.

    Any ideas?

    Scan with VCDS for faults.
Reset flap motors in basic settings.
The flap motors are known to jam, they can be taken out then opened up and lube the worm drive.
There are "how to" on here, try a search.

Thanks kite. Is there a number of motors? In which case I wondering why they'd all give up at the same time - none of the buttons (window / dash / floor / intense front demisting) do anything. I'd imagine a number of motors which would permit flow through a number of outlets.

    Cheers

There are a few motors, first scan for faults then reset flap motors using VCDS.

As a temporary fix you could just disconnect the de mister flap actuator and manually put into the open position until you have time to properly investigate the problem.

Remove the glovebox (5 m8 hex bolts) and there are the motors.

I gather that's just a matter of whipping the glove box out? Makes sense to do that and leave until next I've a reason to head to the garage. I see a long finger coming on
