Hi, just bought a VCDS, when I bought the car 10 mths ago it had no history, so I connected the VCDS to the car and run a total scan, ended up with 5 fault found.
Now, can I erase them because they might have being sorted, and if they haven't the fault will appear again, thanks.

yes thats rite--but do a full scan( auto scan-it will scan all modules !) and save the scan, that way you will have all coding and any workshop codes that have been put in--just incase you ever need them !!!!

Occasionally erasing the codes can upset systems, it is rare but most prevalent on late model petrol engines where the engine has adjusted itself to work around the codes and deleting them send it crazy. We had this a few months ago on an RS4 V8 where when we cleared the codes stored that were making the light come on, the engine went nuts and ran like a pig until it sorted itself out again by compensating for the problems.

We overlapped each other there, you posted a minute or so before me. IF they go whappy no amount of preparation or code recording will help, they just do it but as I said, it's very rare.
