Hello and hope you can help, I have recently changed the battery on the Mrs Golf since then the power steering light has been on. I have attempted to reconfig the power steering but seems to be stuck in ABS test mode. Also Steering measuring blocks angle shows 0 all the time.

Have you fully turned the steering wheel to the right held it there then fully turned it to the left held it there then centered the steering and driven in the straight ahead position upto 30mph?

it can take a few miles before it resets itself--but basic setting has to be done first, then just drive !!

looks like you are still in system function test mod--do basic setting then drive and wheel light should just clear itself, it could take a few miles-just done this on A3 8p other day

Instructions for the 01486 system function test

    • Firmly press the Brake Pedal until a certain Brake Pressure (usually right above 30 bar) is reached.
    • Brake Pressure Sensor (G201) Plausibility will be confirmed by a Change in the Brake Electronics Warning Lights.
      • On Bosch, the ASR/ESP Warning Light (K155) will switch OFF and the ABS Warning Light (K47) will switch ON.
      • On Continental/Teves, the ABS Warning Light (K47) will switch OFF and the ASR/ESP Warning Light (K155) switch ON.

    • Start Driving straight with a steady Speed of ~20 km/h (~13 mph).
    • Turn the Steering Wheel either Left or Right between a 90° Angle (1/4 Turn) to 180° Angle (1/2 Turn) and keep it steady.
    • Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200) and Rotation Rate Sensor (G202) Plausibility is confirmed
once the remaining Brake Electronics Warning Light(s) switch OFF.
    • The Function Test is now completed

    Perform
Steering Limit Stop Adaptation THIS IS FOR THE STEERING WHEEL 02456 CODE

Thanks for the suggestions I will attempt them again all though think I think the steering angle sensor my be faulty as it is not returning any angle info which could be why it's not clearing from the test function or the steering limit stop error.

i have srappy G85 orderd from fleebay so will swap if still not getting resolved

You have activated the test function, now you MUST finish it or you cannot delete the code. I have had a few where it is impossible to get the setup finished using VCDS and I had to use the dealer system ODIS. I have a Golf 5 in now, an R32, that I had this with last year where I could not get the light out but at that point I had just got myself set up with ODIS and going through Guided Fault Finding had the light off in a few minutes. The trouble is hardly any independents have ODIS, it is just main dealers.
