Road Noise question: Pre-Purchase of Q7 e-tron

Hello all

I had a 40 min test drive yesterday in a Q7 e-tron. Lots of positive stuff. It had the Touring Pack with Adaptive Cruise Control, LED Matrix lights,
Sports seats in Leather / Alcantara, Bose sound. It's one of the launch versions that are kicking around.

Many positive issues in the drive, but I left having some concerns re: road noise, and exclusion of Ambient noise. No question ICE noise & vibration undetectable.

I was hoping to fill several wants with the Q7: Lots of load lugging utility, Driver aid technology, Modern drivetrain and also as a replacement for my 10 year old high spec VW Phaeton.
The last issue is where it is not exactly as expected.

I guess the lack of double glazing is a bit of an issue. Also 20" 285 tyres. Also it so dependent on exact road surface.

So the only fair question to ask, is how do current users rate the Q7 on noise levels, let's say if compared to your previous transport. Better / worse that A6/ A6 touring/ A8.

I moved from a 2011 A6 to a 2017 Q7 S-Line. I’m running 21” wheels and have the insulated glass option and the air suspension which I think are the two most important considerations for noise reduction. I find the car quieter than the A6 and it certainly ticks the other boxes for load lugging and driver aids.

Ok, thanks for that. Should have said the demo has the air suspension , but not the insulated glass

I find mine very quiet in general - obviously really bad roads are noisy no matter what. I have air and insulated glass and 20” wheels, but when i did the test drive, the car I drove didn’t and was on steel springs. Compared to my car at the time (2011 X5 msport) the ride and noise insulation was a massive improvement.

I agree on the insulated glass. I have that also along with air suspension and it definitely makes a difference to driving a Q that (in my own opinion of course) doesn't have insulation glass.
