ive been upgrading my sound system in my 2003 A4, and I want to put an 8" sub in the hole the OEM one sits in, rather than havign an extra box sat in my boot.

In order to do this i need to remove the shelf, I also need to remove theseats to get to this but they dont fold.

Where are the bolts to remov the vertical part of the back seats please ? can anyone point me to a guide ? or give hints / photos ?

    Thanks.

    Mark

To remove the rear vertical seats.

After removing the headrests.. The inserts that the headrest poles fall into pull out. After pulling these inserts completely out they unlock the seats and then with a good tug towards you from the top the come out. Hope this helps.

Team, re-opening a rather old thread, but, hey.....so...my posts for the headrests do NOT want to come out. I have broken 2 now, and even the broken ones are stuck. Any ideas? Mind you, when I say stuck...I used a 40 inch long, half inch thick break bar....no movement...at all. Funny thing? They spin just fine....but will not come out!!!!

    TIA,

    Dave

I used brute force and ignorance to get them out, seemed to do the trick after a bit of grunting and swearing. Then remove upright portion of back seat as detailed above... what sub are you going for? Will it be ok for a non enclosed application?
