OK mate, just a bit more info - my car was in THREE times with the coolant leak before they had a proper look at it. The first time it was in (my wife took it in) they had a quick look and said it was fine and it was only going through more coolant as it was winter(!). Second and third time they pressure tested the system and found no leaks. They then said it was a leak in something called the "the map-controlled engine cooling system thermostat housing". But whilst waiting on those parts coming in, they noticed it was in fact the EGR cooler! I'm sure you will be anyway, but beware and ready for the BS that may come your way!

    Hello Gyro,

I tipped them to check out the EGR coolant! They checked and it turned that the leak was for there.
Few minutes I got a call that car is ready!
I do hope this was the issue and there would not be any further leaks.
Thank you once again for your post and I am certain that it helped to get my car sorted so quickly.

So I got the car and all fine!

Just to get bumped from the back of it while waiting at traffic lights.

Funny thing was that yesterday was 13.02 and other driver was born on 13.03!

Audi did not suffer much of a damage considering the hit!

    Photos attached!

t1sh, glad you are OK after that, looks like the other car came off worst thankfully. I assume they have also admitted liability, having ran into the back of you?

Anyway, re. the EGR cooler. I'd be very surprised if they managed to fix it in a day? For me it was a couple of days of strip down and fitment, then a couple of days of rebuild/test/calibration (once all of the parts had arrive on back order from Germany). Just wondering what exactly they did re. the EGR cooler?

    Thanks Gyro,

    Yes, the driver admitted liability.

As far as I understood Audi techs changed EGR valve, exact translation from Polish, which is located into the engine block and was faulty meaning leaking.
I do trust them what they do as always get a call if I was happy and if there were any issues. I do give feedback and give permission to share my name back to the dealer so they know if I was not happy!

Cheers mate, yes all good now thanks (touch wood), had the car back a couple of weeks and all seems to be fine. The wife drove from Edinburgh to Nairn on Monday, which is the car's first decent run since getting it back, and she is currently on her way back with no problems to report. This si good as it was long journeys where the coolant was leaking most.
