Electrical issues with lights

I appear to have something wrong with my electrics.

I've got it where the lights on the roof on the inside dont come on when my lights are turned on but if I turn the light switch off and on they work.
Also the roller switch from the display light for the dash lighting and the beam level don't illuminate either unless I turn the light off then on again.

There was one I sat with the ignition on but engine not running and I put my foot on the break then the dash lights went off then came on. I pressed the brake again and it didn't do it but if I left it for a few seconds in-between it happened again.

Have you fitted aftermarket radio or anything before these faults ?
