Control Module 1 for Coolant Fan Fault

Evening all. Had a fault ping up on the way home tonight. Looking for a little assistance from the forum knowledge base. Not too sure if it's relating to the Aircon or the engine fan. Nothing noticeably different with the car. VW Passat B6 2.0l TDi CR approx 110k miles.

Fan on right as you stand in front of the car. I would get that egt sensor1 sorted quick as it may fail to regenerate. Its the one close to the turbocharger.

Cheers Flapperjack for coming back to me. Is the EGT Sensor fairly easy to wipe out and replace or does it need coding etc?

Bolt on bolt off need a good 17mm spanner and make sure the metal part of the sensor tube dont make contact with anything else when you tighten it. Erase faults after.

So EGT sensor has now been replaced but still getting a coil light every so often on the dash. Ran a scan and I have this error now. Any ideas? Oh the joys!

Who replaced the sensor? Make sure no part of sensor 1 is touching or fouling anything else as it gives a false reading. Also that the wires are not pulled or stretched.

Hi flapperjack. My local Indy replaced. I’ll take it back and see if he can have a look. Can this sort of this thing have an adverse effect on the car? Just trying to see if it’s a serious fault or whether or not I can get away with it until it’s next service?

Without the exhaust gas temperature sensors working correctly then it's a case of the dpf wont regenerate. Then the dpf starts to block up . Then it goes into limp mode. Then the costs escalate.

Not wishing to put the mockers on your day, but remembered another thread where someone had repeated failures of this sensor.
Please Help Sensor failure - Same one 3 times in 20 months!!

Hope its not the same for you, but it might be worth keeping a close eye on the coolant level.
