    Hi all
Just after a bit of advice please.
Neighbours '96 Golf 1.6 has a cracked thermostat housing. I have removed all the pipes, sensor and the 3 mounting bolts.
The housing is loose but still attached to the pipe behind the thermostat that runs into the engine. I can't figure out how to release it and don't want to force it and break something. It does move around a bit just won't come free.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks

Had a look at the pipe this morning. It is routed into the engine above the gearbox, no way to get to it without dropping the gearbox. I'm sure the housing disconnects at the top somehow.
