Hi all, I hope people don’t mind me asking. I know I can search through previous threads, but as I’ve got no idea what I’m talking about, I thought I’d ask the specific questions.

I have just purchased my wife a 55 plate S-Line 3.0 TDi Quattro. I’m hoping I can connect our phones to it via Bluetooth. It has an inbuilt telephone and it mentions Bluetooth in the menu but only seems to reference the inbuilt handset.

So, is it possible to connect iPhones via Bluetooth, and secondly. Jimitop has an AMI unit for sale which is a 4E0035785F. Would that be compatible?

I have attached a few photos as I don’t know what the difference between 2G and 3G and high etc.

    Hi,

That looks like MMI 2G High with the factory-fit Motorola handset. Sadly this means you don't have a bluetooth module your own phone will connect to. Bizarrely Audi limited the bluetooth connection in this setup to just the included handset. I think at the time the option you have was £800, as opposed to the telephone preparation option at £400 which meant you could connect your own device via bluetooth. If the original owner had opted for that, you'd have the hardware in place to be able to connect your own phone.

Not sure about the AMI unit, but I do remember it needs to be a physical device as opposed to just a cable (which was introduced with MMI 3G when the A6 was facelifted in 2009). If the device you're looking at is compatible with MMI 2G High, and if you have a late enough MMI software revision, you should be OK I guess.

The other option is to investigate a Dension 500 unit, which (I think) offers bluetooth and ipod/usb integration for music?

    Cheers!

    MF.

Thanks for your reply, although not the news I was hoping for. Does anyone know if I can add a used Audi BT module which will work? I don’t plan to use the inbuilt phone.
