    Morning all.
My 2011 1.6CR Greenline Superb has started throwing a glow plug warning light up mid journey with "contact workshop" displayed. The car also goes into limp mode.
If you turn the car off and switch back on it resets and drives fine again.
I'm taking my car to the garage but any idea what I should expect it to be?

    Many thanks.

Yeah this is the general consensus through researching the fault.
I'm also expecting a bill upwards of £300 as a result.

On the Superb glow plug thread... my Superb ( Sept 2015, 1.6 diesel Ambition, 37000 Klms ) showed a yellow warning icon ( Engine) so I contacted the dealership, and booked it in for same day. They diagnosed it as being a faulty glow plug. Part was ordered, and I brought the car back to have it fitted two days later. In the Superbs ( or indeed in all the VAG diesel engines ) are the glow plugs in use during the DPF regen? Seems to have gone very early ( 37000 Klms ) Best answer I could get from the service manager is that it can happen especially during very cold mornings.......anyone else out there have the same or similar experience? Guarantee covered the replacement, and still 10 mths left in the guarantee...so I still have some protection, but still a niggling doubt about it...or any other early problems making themselves known....
    Thanks Jim,

for a genuine unit (when you can get one) you are looking at double that and more fitted for a later 1.6 and 2L CRTDI EGR valve

Yup. Genuine part was fitted and it cost me £550 fitted. That was my friend doing it out of hours at his garage so no VAT on labour too. Expensive job!
Is this something that happens to all diesels now? As I'd have hoped that doing very long journeys would have mitigated this sort of thing from happening, yet after only 80 odd thousand on the clock quite a major component has failed.

The particular egr cooler assembly your talking about is rubbish. Its design has been revised at least 8 times . Added to the fact it's not easy to get to makes it an expensive repair. I know a 2012 Yeti on it's 3rd egr and only 48k on the clock.
