Hi i am new to the A5 forum so hi I am Luke 👋

I recently bought an A5 sport back, it’s a 63 plate, it has 44,000 miles, and I love the car!

However, I am getting an on / off vibration at high speed, all 4 tyres are like new (which makes me think the last owner was trying to get rid of this...?)

I have had all the wheels re balanced and the garage think I have a buckled alloy

They are the 19” rotor alloys

I just wanted to know if they are prone to bending or buckling and if anyone has any personal experience?

    Many thanks

    Luke

Possibly caused by going over a pothole? Could also be tyre out of round for same reason. Hitting speed bumps hard can cause this too. Would have thought a balancing macbine would be able to identjfy. Most likely a front so could try rotating your wheels to see if it makes any difference

Did you sort? If not have you checked if you have rear wheel spacers? If you do take them out and see what happens

Got all 4 of my 19" rotors booked into a place to get the buckle sorted out. All 4 came up with an excessive inner distortion on a road force balance machine, it varied between 1.3 and 2.0mm. The 2.0 deviation was reported as the wheel needing to be replaced. At £750 a pot I’ll try to fix the wheel first. But I’ve heard that anything larger than 17” wheels tend to be at the mercy of pot holes.

Yup! I had a severly buckled front N/S alloy giving the same symptoms you describe at motorway speeds only. Had it moved to the rear for now and vibration gone, for now at least...
