I've just acquired a gen Audi auto-dimming rear view mirror (.

I've read the "botched" retrofit upgrade at the A6 retrofit blog (which strikes me as a real bodge!) - does anyone know if there is a power plug sitting up in the headlining somewhere, behind the headlining light cluster maybe, ready to power a mirror upgrade?

I suspect I'll need add a 5A fuse in the requisite fuse slot, but I'm trying to work out in advance, hopefully, whether this is a straight forward upgrade, or whether I'll need to create a new feed for it from somewhere in the light cluster?

    Many thanks for any advice/suggestions...

(Don't suppose there's a howto out there somewhere that anyone knows about is there?)

This needs a new loom installed. Power, ground, interior light feed, reverse signal from memory

Use the feed from the interior light switch and don't worry about the reverse light option.

    Hi Dan

Ok, the mirror is in, and I've rigged up a feed to supply it, but can't work out which of the various plug cables I need to feed! Do you know which colour cables from the mirror cables are the + and - feeds? (I agree - I'm not worried at all about the reverse light option - all I wanted it for is looking better than the standard RVM, and for auto-dipping when idiots cruise up behind with hi or mis-aligned beams).

    Many thanks

    Richard

Thank you for the links Dan.

Stupidly, I've removed the six wires from the mirror plug. I can work that Black/White are 1 and 2 in the plug, but can't work out where the other three go in the plug? I know I don't need it to complete the exercise, but if/when I remove the mirror if/when I sell the car, it would be pretty handy!
