    Hi guys,

My car engine's been rattling and clattering, generally sounding like an old biddy with knackered zimmer wheels. Dealer has said needs a new flywheel +/- clutch. Expensive.

My question, the car still drives ok, slight judder at low speed only, can I ignore it till next year when I might be getting rid of it or do I need to fix it now?

As I said earlier, expensive quote to replace.

    TIA.

Realistically, it may not last a year. If it's clattering then the DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) is on its way out and they can fail catastrophically if left. How long before total failure is like asking how long is a piece of string....no-one knows. It may last a week, it may last 5 years in it's current condition. However the noise will put off any potential buyer unless you plan to trade it in, as most places will just send it to auction and offer you book price on the trade in.

    Thanks Mario.

Indy said not to repair, dealer trying to tempt me with "scrappage" offer. I don't want a brand new car and certainly don't want another Audi.....
