    Hello!
Can any helpful and knowledgeable person tell me if the 5-speed 1.9TDI mk4 and Mk5 gearboxes are essentially the same?

The gearbox has just packed-up on my BXE engined Golf and I have an ATD engine and gearbox from a Mk4 sitting in the garage. They look outwardly the same at least but I'd rather not go to the trouble of trying to install it if it ain't going to fit.

    Any input appreciated

    Thanks!

Gearbox codes are different. I just want to know if there any issues with physically fitting it. Ratios are similar.
