I have a jetta. 125000k miles. Runs sweet no problems. Nsf cv boot was split and clicking. Was going to do it on next service. Tonight i was pulling off in 1st gear, quite fast and wheels were spinning in rain. It jumped out of gear, lost all drive. Clutch feels fine and when u press it to go in gear, gears feel fine too. When u release clutch there's a rotating grinding noise. Clutch seems ok and gearbox feels normal. So any ideas? A few people have said drivè shaft has popped out box or cv joint has collapsed. If u turn engine off and put it in gear, then turn engine on it starts but doesn't bump, just grinds. It's been an ok car, reliable n cheap. It's now sat at side of road till mornung. Any ideas? Cv joint? Shaft? I thought it was flywheel to be honest but my mate who has a tiguan with same engine reckons it's cv joint or at worse shaft. Couldn't see anything as I had no torch.
