When I was speccing my car I originally didn't select matrix headlights, but then I ended up buying one from stock that had them already fitted. After the dealer explained how they work it sounded pretty cool, but seems weird driving around on main beam. Question is do they actually work? Audi drivers have a bad enough reputation already without getting a reputation for dazzling everyone! :-)

Have them on my A7. Personally I preferred the previous adaptive lights. They do dazzle 25% of the time on flat surfaces and more on undulating surfaces in my experience. Personally I’ve not added them to my Q7 order

There’s a couple of threads on here about this from memory.

Personally love them and would love to be in front of an Audi or any car with Matrix lights as I want to see whether they dazzle or not.

I’ve never been flashed at by another car or anything whilst the lights have been active.

The best benefit is in these upcoming darker days and on country or unwell lit lights they really do come in to their own.

Agree with Nemo. I’ve not been flashed in the 18 months I’ve had the Q7. I really like them, but wouldn’t say they’re a must have.

If you drive on country roads a lot, you will really get the benefit. If you spend most of your time in cities driving under 40mph, probably money better spent elsewhere.

In terms of what it looks like, my mate who I followed with them on said really weird but not at all dazzling. Basically it flooded the road around hit car with light "like a UFO" but yet nothing strong or dazzling in his rear view mirror.

Should you get them? I think that depends on the budget, I wouldn't put them up their with things like Tech pack, city pack, pano roof which are but I'd probably prioritise over upgraded alloys

Picked it up today, did some driving tonight on full beam and didn't get flashed once, I couldn't stop smiling, they are brilliant! :-)

They are fab. Always impressed how the sections of light switch on / off as cars approach and pass or ad you go round a corner following a car.

    Would never go back now.

So, I've been driving around for a month now with auto main beam on and I got flashed this morning not once but twice! It was quite a busy country road with lots of traffic in both directions, pretty bendy road, traffic lights, cyclists and people coming out of side roads etc., so maybe the lights got confused with everything that was going on. I had the activation time set to medium but have changed it to early, so will see if that makes any difference. Was a bit surprised though, maybe they aren't foolproof after all!

    Anyone else been flashed?

First time on Sunday after 18 months! It was dusk, a bit of a windy A road with a bit of dip with the raised sections about 1/2 mile apart.

As I came over the brow, the other car did from the opposite side. I’m not convinced he was being blinded but probably confused with how the road ahead and the hedgerow either side was being lit up!
