I really don't want it to be a nice car!
I'm very happy with mine...and not thinking at all of chopping it in - if the Q5 loan car currently is anything to go by, it further emphasises that point
But I know it's going to be the complete opposite.

To be honest, if I could have mine with the upgraded virtual cockpit and mmi system, I'd probably be happy as the engine is flawless, shape has really grown on me and all the rest...well again, if its going to be like the Q5 (plasticy), I would much rather hang onto the 2015 A7!

    So thoughts?
I actually prefer the back of the current one... I feel the new one is more a5 style?
But as expected, liking the new mmi and those headlights...!

Agreed, I prefer the back of the current one too - but those lights (back and front) are as sexy as. The MMI was always going to be better though. My wife has just got a new Q2 and the MMI in that just looks cleaner and crisper than in my A7, even on the sport model that she has.

The shape overall does not look that much different to me, but underneath all that metal I'm sure it is a different beast.

I know I'll want one, but I'll be keeping my current A7 for a few years yet - it is still one of the most beautiful cars on the road (in my eyes anyway). Whenever I see another one around, I always get that surge of 'OMG what a car'. In fact a Mythos Black drove past me the other day on the motoway. I could see it in my rearview mirror a way back and it looked fantastic, a lot of presence on the road for sure.

    A quick summary review here:

    One of so many reviews

    my views:

    exterior:
    - almost the same as before.. (that's both good and bad..)
    - lots of animated lights, I guess this is the nature of things to come in the future.. high end cars need to attract the Chinese and they love bling!
    - don't like the new gen grill design by Audi, old A7 screamed character. new grill looks like a gaping hole in the middle.
    - don't fancy that straight red line at the back

    interior:
    - love the parking feature!
    - love the screen integration than sticking it on
    - also like getting rid of running the air vents from left to right, like in the current Audi generation
    - touch screens.. hmm.. I know this is what ppl want.., most cars will have this (eg. RRs), but not very ergonomic. imagine a simple use case - changing the temperature. u can no longer do it just by touch, u also have to look at the touch-screen, move it with your finger, cos u can't feel a dial to turn!

Totally agree with the grill. I replied yesterday having seen the launch on the phone so only this morning I really got a proper view on the curves/front/back etc in high-res but the grill is not something I like. I still keep seeing the new A4/A5 when I see the front aside from the headlights.

and I am with you with the touch screens. Maybe it is something you will get used to but given I could "text" with my eyes shut on a nokia 3210 with pretty much 100% accuracy yet 10 years using a touch-screen phone I need to look/correct/double check what I type...

I do like the fact the re-designed gear shift is so that the wrist can sit on it while using the screen - having just come out of the Q5 and back into my A7, I realised how much I did this to control the MMI controls - having said that, it is not comfortable at all having the functions/buttons far away - one of the key features I feel about the current systems is that the control wheel, buttons and volume is all on a console close to the driver.

Nice to see the bulky rear view mirror has gone - still can't figure out how the heck it catches the light behind you to dim but it worked very well and has a very clean feel to it having used the Q5 one.
