I’m getting a message in the dis saying replace battery on the keyfob. Last time it did this I couldn’t unlock the doors the next day so I replaced the battery. It’s came back with the same message, I only replaced the battery a month ago and it wasn’t a cheapy battery. It was a Duracell from Tesco at £5. Is this normal?
The original battery lasted 22 months and this new one just 1.
It’s not lasted that long, my tv remote has lasted 4 years and I button bash that a hell lot more 😄
Is there a way to check this on vcds or get the readings it’s picking up?
Can’t be bothered going to dealer, it will either be another case of it’s not covered under warranty or they will scratch my other bumper and not own up to it.

Vcds picks up the low battery message. I had to change mine last week and it showed up on the scan I did on Friday.

You could have just got a duff battery, it does happen. If you have a voltmeter then check the battery - should be 3.3V when new (3.32 or so). If it's down at 2.7V or whatever then it's done.

Next check the new one before you put it in so you know it is good. If it runs flat in a month then you have an issue.

There are loads of fake/crap batteries out there that look like the proper makes.

Check the voltage on your spare key battery too. 2.9v may be too low. If the spare is around 2.9v and works ok it may be the original key itself has a fault.

A drop from 3.3 to 2.9 in a month is not normal. Looks like a bad battery

Spare key never gets used. It’s set to the wife for the memory seats and she never drives it. Still got original battery.
