    Had new cambelt warter pump fitted today by Vw, before it was done the torsion value was -2.0 now after its -3.4 is this ok car seems fine though????????

    I bet if the crank was plated up the cam pin would not go in.

    It's supposed to be near/around 0.
    People have reported increase in fuel consumption and/or loss of performance with increase in torsion value away from 0.
    Suggest you keep an eye on your fuel consumption to compare with previous.

    VAG call it the "Synchronisation value" and specify it must be -3° > =3° CA (camshaft angle presumably) and in their literature only list

    G40 defective
    Sender incorrect or incorrectly secured
    Gap between sender and camshaft sprocket not ok
    Wiring open circuit or hub with sender wheel on camshaft twisted or loose

    as explanations for figures outside of the tolerance, no mention of valve timing BUT it quite clearly does have a relationship with cam timing accuracy.
