    Hey guys.

Anyone know if the “Brake Pads” yellow alert on my dash is for front or rear?

Then that takes me on too...

    Bosch pads or Pagid?

I will change them myself if on the front unless they are abnormally different to any other car

Could be either, you will tell if you look at the sensor wires on the nearsides, one will be worn through. I would guess at front.

Pads are different for various models. look on Euro car parts web site. if you buy from them don't forget there always a discount code somewhere.

Fronts are 20 minutes a side (if that), straightforward job. Rears will need the auto hand brake servo wound back. I need to do ours and have the (Bembo) pads but trying to find a simple method of backing off the auto handbrake and then re-calibrating it with the new pads.
Looking at OBDeleven as an option - has anyone else used this for changing the rear pads? Experiences?

I used VCDS, simple job providing procedure is followed. Wouldn’t try doing it without winding back this way, ilve heard stories of EPB damage.

There’s quite a few variation on pads and discs for the A6. Look in your service book for the sticker that has the PR codes. It will have something like 2EA.
This place is pretty cheap. Buy Car Parts direct online: cheap Auto Parts, Car Spares, Car Parts UK
If you look up the part numbers on the trw or Brembo websites you can search there.
Careful with non branded or euro branded stuff as I’ve seen some pads crumble under use and brakes aren’t a thing to mess about with on a 2 ton car. Can’t go wrong with Brembo or trw.

I was looking for a cheaper alternative to getting VCDS and buying the Rosstech cable. OBDeleven can be had for Ł70 ish on eBay, whereas the Ross-tech cables are Ł200 ish.

The obdeleven works beautifully today for me when changing my rear brake pads. Very simple and even better with the latest updates.
