This is my first post on the forum, so I hope this all makes sense!
As a lifelong Audi fan, I am a bit perplexed by my current Audi A5 Cabrio and was hoping to gain some advice.
Throughout my life, I’ve had a range of Audis that have always been my pride and joy. With the children flying the nest, I could finally splash out and enjoy a sportier car as my main vehicle.
After much consideration, I opted for the Audi A5 Cabriolet S Tronic Quattro, with a 3.0 TDI engine. On paper, it seemed ideal, being reliable for my long commutes and meetings with clients, while still being great fun for the weekends.
Unfortunately, this car is quickly becoming the bane of my life. It is the first automatic car I’ve owned, and I now think it’ll be my last.
Is it normal for the car to shake and vibrate as the car changes gear?
The sound is not what I’d expect from Audi quality and have never experienced the problem before; I can only assume this is what happens with automatic gearboxes?
All I want is a smooth transition without the embarrassing and frankly worrying sound. Is this just a feature of the gearbox or can it be fixed?
    Much obliged,
    John

Doesn’t sound right to me, John. I have not driven an A5 with the S Tronic box, but I have recently got an A3 and the gear change is really smooth (at least in Auto or Comfort mode). I have found up changes in Efficiency and down changes in Sport can be felt but I wouldn’t describe it rough.
