Hi all I think I have a problem with my "x relay" as my rear wiper, heater blower and 12v power for cigaret lighter all stopped at the same time as I was driving down the road, my car is a UK VW Golf MK6 late 2010 I've looked everywhere online and I am struggling to find the relay at fault.

here is a picture of my relay cluster I was wondering if anyone could point it out to me?

I would relay (if you'll pardon the pun) appreciate any help

    Thanks

I think 644 is the X relay. You can confirm by looking at the terminals. The X relay will have two large terminals on the base.

    Yeah that looks like it.

If you look at the bottom of the relay you should see numbers next to the terminals. The 3 terminal on the relay socket should have a constant 12V. And if you connect a voltmeter across the two small terminals on the socket it should show 12V when the ignition is switched on. Finally, you can use a link wire to link terminals 3 & 5 on the relay socket (with the ignition on) and see if that makes your blower work. Don't turn the blower on to full speed though or the link wire might get hot. If all that checks out, you can feel confident that the relay is faulty and replace it.

    Jim.
