Just picked myself up a Mark 7 Golf GTD and wow absolutely love this car.

Smooth, punchy, pretty quick and such a nice place to be while driving.
Do a lot of annual miles so seems to tick all the boxes.
A joy to get in each day and hoping for many years of great driving.
Also thanks to the previous owner some nice option boxes ticked too, including a sunroof!

Hope to get some pics on soon

anyone else feel the GTD love?

    Road tax is CO2 based.

Doing that is illegal and an instant MOT failure

That would definitely be off putting and inconvenient.
Thanks for the info Crasher, I had heard that before but did wonder if it could be done by paying the higher rate of road tax.

As Gaz says road tax is Carbon Dioxide based and yes your CO2 emissions would go up but there is no way of quantifying and registering this. The emissions that would be emitted with zero exhaust gas after treatment are not like CO2 which is necessary for all life on this planet, scientists often call it the “Elixir of life”. What comes out instead are potent and deadly gases such as NOX which is an abbreviation for the various Oxides of Nitrogen such as Nitrogen Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide plus particulate matter such as Carbon (soot) and various other Volatile Organic Compounds that put simply, kill people. The after treatment system fitted to your engine takes all of these nasties and turns it into Carbon Dioxide and Ash, doing a pretty good job of it and the EU6 systems seem to be much more reliable. If the current technology such as Selective Catalytic Reduction (using AdBlue basically) had been as it is now but twenty years ago, the millions of Diesel drivers like Gaz would not have been ****** off as they are now, the EU5 standards that introduced Diesel Particulate Filters we’re deeply flawed and really didn’t work.

Being of the vintage I am I cannot still stop smirking at a paper produced by the EU in the late 80’s which stated that the use of catalytic converters removes the harmful and toxic emissions in internal combustion engines exhaust emissions and turn them into “harmless” water vapour and Carbon Dioxide which incidentally are the number 1 and 2 greenhouse gases…
