iPhone 8 or X - will wifi charger work in Q7

Thinking about buying either iPhone x or 8 (upgrading from a 6) and just wanted to know if the wifi charging capability is compatible with the Q7 charging compartment under the armrest. Does anyone know if it would work?

Yes - the armrest charging platform is Qi compliant so will work with the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X. It will also work for Apple Watch series 3.
CarPlay however will still require a cable I think.

But to be honest, it's a bit of a faff having to put the phone under the armrest and it's a bit picky on being placed in the right direction

The good news is that it fits then Is there much space left on the charging pad under the armrest as I wonder if the Plus or X would actually fit?

the 8 plus still won’t fit as It’s the same size as the 7 plus

but the iPhone X although being a bigger screen is slightly shorter so that will fit fine
under the arm rest

On a serious note, Carplay needs a USB connection to work so check the iPhone X plus a connected cable still fits in the phone box... If of course that's where you intend to keep it when plugged in.

I lay my s6 edge in the drinks holder when connected to USB for android auto.

I've got an 8. QI charging works. But with the official springy Audi USB cable it does not fit into the charge box. The phone itself fits fine and it would work with a 90 degree angled connector into the phone. Of course no point in QI use anyway when plugged in.
