    Hi
I need to remove the gearbox ECU on my A4 B6 Cabriolet 1.8T as I have flashing PRNDS lights etc, however I am getting mixed advise on whether the TCU can be removed with or without draining the gearbox of oil first? Does anyone know for certain?
I have attached a photo of the ECU type I wish to remove that sits on the bacl of my CVT gearbox .

    Hi
You have to drain oil if you want to remove ECU. That requires special tool. Also, for gearbox backfilling you need another special tool, and it probably won't be possible to buy it.

These people are a bit far from your location but Milta Technology (Bristol Gearbox Center) are the absolute experts at the kind of job you need
removed repaired and refitted my Multitronic ECU for £300 whilst I waited and watched. I was very impressed

To answer your question Yes fluid has to be drained and then pumped back in in an Exact quantity at the right temperature

Try M ac kie Transmission in Glasgow. They can read the gearbox ECU for faults I think. Also servicing etc.
