Over the weekend noticed a stone chip, U believe, almost at the bottom of the front windshield. Waiting for insurance company to say how to proceed.
I wonder if this might be a crack caused by a crap glass fitting or fabric defect.

Looks like an impact to me. Wouldn’t expect a fabric defect to cause the recess that appears to be in that photo. Hopefully they can fill it to stop it expanding through winter.

I just fixed something similar on my windshield with a glass repair kit. It was very cheap and looks good. To get the last picture, I needed a pen just to focus on the spot, otherwise its very difficult to see even from inside the car. It was definitely worth not paying hundreds to have it professionally filled or worse replace windshield.

I had a chip in exactly the same spot on my A6. I was just glad it hadn't hit the bonnet. The autoglass guy did a great job filling it and was very apologetic that it wasn't invisible but I wasn't bothered as you couldn't see it from the cabin. Lasted a year until I sold the car.
