I have a new A6 Black Edition for which I bought Paint Protection at the time of purchase.
I recently had the car valeted professionally and was told that it didn't appear to have any worthwhile paint protection at all
I contacted Audi to ask about a cert. and was told 'We register the paint protection our end so you don’t need to worry about that side of things!'
Should I have received a cert. or pack of some sort?
I now realise paint protection is likely a waste of money anyhow

Would have expected you to get a package of products to refresh the paint protection as is the case with the AutoGlym Lifeshine system

Thank you for your reply john. I did indeed get the AutoGlym Lifeshine system. I wondered if I should have also received any paperwork proving it had actually been done.

If you have been to any cheap car wash they have probably removed it with the chemicals they use. A good ceramic coating from Gtechniq would have been a better choice.

About 2 days after picking the car up the dealer sent me the warranty paperwork via email.

Here’s a screenshot of the certificate from AutoGlym and there’s some contact numbers on it (sorry a bit weirded out by data being shared so please excuse my scribbling....)

Not really worth the paper it's written on unfortunately. You can buy the AG sealant for like £5 and it will be washed off in a couple of weeks.

I got a new VW Up a few years ago and asked them not to do any prep to the paint before delivery, they gave me the pack of 'Lifeshine' stuff they would have used and TBH it's not worth bothering with, I never used it. I did the interior treatment myself and use decent carnuba wax every few washes. If you want proper protection you'd be best getting it done at a detailer, not cheap though.

It sits on rather than bonds to the paint. 'Ceramic' is a bit of a throw away term

    Quote,
"Carbon Shield Technology fuses liquid carbon to vehicle paintwork" bla bla.

From their homey pagey 'ting. Sounds a lot like 'bonding' to me.
